BMIT History

BMIT Limited is a subsidiary company of BMIT Technologies plc, a public company registered in Malta. We are the result of two successful organisations – BMIT Limited and Kinetix IT Solutions Limited - coming together with a clear objective to deliver technological solutions in a straightforward manner, through a team of passionate people who understand technology yet are able to deliver it in a simplified way.

At the heart of our operation are our two data centre facilities in Malta, which are both ISO27001 and PCI-DSS certified and managed 24x365 and inter-linked with our international locations in Italy and Germany through our own 40Gbps private international managed network. Our international presence also allows us to offer direct connections to the Far East, enabling customers to better reach the Asian market.

As cloud services became more mainstream, we deployed Malta’s first Public Cloud services platform, hosted in our facilities in Malta to ensure compliance requirements, and on which we offer both infrastructure-as-a-service and software-as-a-service solutions. Our Public Cloud Services infrastructure is also integrated with leading cloud services providers such as Microsoft, thanks to our Tier-1 Microsoft Cloud Services Provider (CSP) partner status. Customers also have access to BMIT’s MultiCloud Connect, a high-performance, private and dedicated solution linking customers’ infrastructure to one or more of the global cloud platforms, such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and many other providers.

Meet the executive team

Christian Sammut

Chief Executive Officer

Christian Sammut is the Chief Executive Officer of the Company. Ing Sammut is an experienced data centre, telecom and business development specialist. Throughout his career, Ing Sammut has worked in the private and public sectors both locally as well as overseas, including the aerospace industry. His responsibilities have included the delivery and support of IT infrastructure services, as well as the management and operations of the Government of Malta’s data centres.

In 2001, Ing Sammut joined GO to develop new business and data centre opportunities and held various positions at the company, including that of Chief Officer for Strategy & Business Development. In 2011 he was appointed CEO for the BMIT Group and in addition, more recently, Chief Officer for B2B at GO plc.

In 2015 Ing Sammut was appointed non-executive Chairman of Gaming Malta, an independent non-profit foundation set up by the Government of Malta and the Malta Gaming Authority, tasked with the remit of promoting Malta as a Centre of excellence in the remote gaming sector globally and with enhancing the ecosystem surrounding the sector. Ing Sammut is a graduate in engineering from the University of Malta and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Henley Management College.

Nick Tonna

Chief Customer Officer

Nick joined BMIT in 2012 to lead the Commercial team through the company's ambitious transformation strategy. Under his leadership the team has helped the company attain strong year-on-year revenue growth and doubling its customer count.

Prior to BMIT, Nick led Microsoft's Enterprise & Partner Group segment in Malta. Here he was responsible for managing and developing the relationships with Microsoft’s enterprise customers in Malta. Amongst various other achievements, Nick secured the first large-scale deployments of Cloud-based services within Microsoft's Central and Eastern European region and played a key role in Microsoft’s strategic partnership with the Government of Malta. He was recognised with the Worldwide Circle of Excellence Award for his contributions.

Earlier in his career, Nick also managed a number of ICT transformation projects for a number of customers, primarily within the public sector and the financial services sector.

Nick holds a Masters in Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship and a Bachelors in ICT from the University of Malta, and specialised in Business Information Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.

Jack Mizzi

Chief Marketing Officer

Jack Mizzi is an experienced professional in the IT, technology, and communications sectors, specialising in B2B marketing, product development, and management. Since 2011, he held the post of Chief Marketing Officer at BMIT Technologies plc.

Jack currently oversees the development and management of BMIT's product portfolio, which includes data centre services, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and managed IT services. He also handles the marketing and corporate communications for the publicly listed company. His adeptness in both technical and marketing aspects allows him to bridge the gap between technology and business.

In previous roles, Jack held positions in telco marketing, new business development, partnership management, and TV and online content creation. This diverse background provides him with a comprehensive perspective on the tech industry.

Jack is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Management and Public Policy from the University of Malta, an MSc in Marketing from the University of Leicester, and a project management certification.

Alan Camilleri

Chief Tower Operations Officer

Alan is a seasoned telecommunications professional with extensive experience in operations. He has successfully overseen numerous projects and operational initiatives during his tenure with the Go Group, were he held various positions within the Commercial and Digital domains.

In 2024, following BMIT’s recent acquisition of the passive infrastructure equipment hosting mobile radio equipment, Alan joined the company to establish, develop and oversee the operational framework to the newly acquired business.

His leadership experience extends across various senior management positions in retail, product development, customer experience, back-office operations, market research, BI and quality assurance. Since 2009 he was also responsible for all the billing operations at Go where he led numerous billing enhancements. Additionally, Alan played a key role in the strategic project team that facilitated the establishment of Go Mobile.

Alan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics, as well as a BA (Hons) in Business Management (Marketing) from the University of Malta.

Alexia Muscat

Chief Finance Officer

Alexia joined BM IT Limited in 2012 and leads the Finance and Administration function of the organisation, including full responsibility for the preparation and submission of financial information for all the companies within the BMIT Group.

Alexia is also actively involved in ad hoc assignments related to due diligence projects carried out during change in ownership and acquisitions within the Group. Before joining BM IT Limited, Alexia worked as an accountant in one of the largest property development companies in Malta. During her term within this company, she was involved in the growth of the company from a limited company to a public listed company.

Alexia’s career started at PwC where she was part of the Tax & Legal Services team. At that time, she was responsible for the income tax compliance of a portfolio of personal and corporate clients. She was also involved in a number of audit assignments for clients in different industries. Alexia holds a B. Accountancy (Hons) degree from the University of Malta. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

Gordon Bezzina

Chief Technical Officer

Gordon is the Chief Technology Officer responsible for BM IT Limited’s core infrastructure – the network and the facilities. Throughout his career he has built a wide range of experience in various technical and consultancy positions at different organisations.

Gordon has specialised in network infrastructure and data centre design and has since designed and implemented a number of network and data centre set-ups, including BM IT Limited’s own 2 data centres. Gordon is a B.Sc. graduate and has various technical certifications.

Dione Vella

Chief Digital and Compliance Officer

Dione started off his career at MITTS Ltd (now MITA) in 1995 were he spent 6 years in various roles including that of a Project Leader responsible for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM). He was also a Technical Analyst handling complex ICT designs and implementation projects such as the first E-Gov framework launched in Malta.

In 2002, Dione joined Innovate (part of the Maltacom/GO Group) were he spent 12 years. At GO he held various positions including Manager IT Operations, Manager Strategic Development and Senior Manager Business Solutions.

Amongst other achievements, Dione has worked on various Data Centres implementations, large scale and complex ICT/Telecom related projects with the biggest corporations in Malta like BOV, HSBC and others.

Dione holds an MSc in Networking Technologies and Management from Sheffield Hallam University and Industry certificates in ITIL and PRINCE2.

Karl Demicoli

Chief HR Officer

Having over 11 years of experience in HR, Karl began his career within the FMCG sector, before moving on to spend 7 years with an international pharmaceutical company, where he was involved in a number of Corporate HR projects whilst also maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the HR function.

Following his move to GO plc in 2018, he was asked to join BMIT with the aim of building and developing an HR function within the organisation. He has successfully delivered on this requirement, in a time of growth and major change for the BMIT Group, also by building a team that is fully committed on developing the function further, with a mindset of continuous improvement.

Under Karl’s leadership, the newly created HR team has also continued to evolve into an increasingly strategic function, focused on maximising the value of the BMIT Technologies Group employees and aligning it with company initiatives and strategies.

Karl holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Leicester as well as various certifications.

Sean Cohen

Chief Customer Delivery & Support Services Officer

Sean Cohen is an IT and cybersecurity expert with over 15 years of experience in the tech industry. Sean's expertise spans managing technical operations, cloud-based solutions with AWS and Azure, and service provider data center design and networking. As Chief Customer Delivery and Support Services Officer at BMIT Technologies, he is responsible for overseeing technical projects and cybersecurity solutions, overseeing a managed services team and contributing to the company's growth. Sean is also an ISO 27001 lead implementer. He holds a First-Class Honours degree in IT & Networking from Middlesex University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He holds numerous certifications including ITIL 4, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.

Nick joined BMIT in 2012 from Microsoft Malta where for the previous seven years he led the Enterprise & Partner Group segment and was responsible for managing and developing the relationships with Microsoft’s enterprise customers in Malta. Amongst various other achievements, Nick secured the first large-scale deployments of Cloud-based services and played a key role in the 2011 five-year strategic partnership agreement with the Government of Malta. He was recognised with the Worldwide Circle of Excellence Award for his performance.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Nick managed a number of ICT transformation projects including the implementation of a service management programme at the Government’s IT agency as well as a number of key e-government and e-business projects.

Nick is a graduate in ICT from the University of Malta and specialised in Business Information Systems at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA.
